garage

Yes its been a while.
For the last couple months I've working on plans to rebuild our garage. Its had a roof leak that is getting worse. Mold is spreading. What started as a plan to repair the roof has expanded to tearing it all down except for a cinder block wall that's adjacent to the neighbor. The grand plan is to make the space more usable as a shop/studio. At the moment the only electricity to the garage is a single(blatantly not code!) 15amp circuit that's also on the same breaker as the bathroom and a bedroom. Currently that line runs in a conduit overhead spanning about 12 ft from the house to the garage. I'll be cutting a trench this week to run service to a sub panel underground. I've decided to do this now because I worry that once construction starts it won't be enough electricity to run power tools.

competition

Its been a while since I've posted. Too many sites to manage-Facebook, Flickr, Shutterfly, my personal e-mail and this blog. Somewhere in the ether is my Minneapolis Artist page also.

I may have to pull the plug on something.

front yard done

We started this project almost a year ago. Two loads of grass..um weeds went to the dump. All the rocks, big and small, have come from the front and back yard. 4 yards of top soil to suppliment the clay soil, and 3 yards of 1/4 minus gravel...we don't intentionally put Hank in the photo, he somehow always ends up there...

fencing in

So, another project 90% complete. The boards turned out to look much nicer after they were sealed and stained. The last step is a 12" section of "cattle guard" fence-a steel wire, 4" grid fence to sit along the top to train the wistera to grow across. Now we can boot the dog out when he gets under foot when the baby comes. Besides he likes it out here anyway...
